Building of the year with DAKO joinery!

The implementation was noticed and awarded in the competition "Construction of 2019", organized by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians. Reconstruction, renovation and change of use of the hospital building into a residential and service function in the Lokum Vena estate in Wrocław at ul. Fr. Józef Poniatowski, implemented by our long-term Business Partner: Lokum Developer S.A., was awarded 1st place in the category: Housing estates and residential buildings.

We are glad that it was DAKO products that were used to implement this beautiful investment, the specificity of which required non-standard solutions. The architect's idea was to accurately reflect the historical character, restore the building, and restore its former splendor in a refreshed form. The design uses stylized wooden windows with muntins, in a classic light gray color, and modern and functional elements of aluminum joinery, incl. windows and doors and fire protection solutions.

According to the Regional Director from the DAKO Investment Office in Wrocław - Ms. Dorota Żyromska - the project is an example of an increasingly popular adaptation of historic buildings to the needs of modern construction:

The customer decided to choose wooden DAKO windows, which have an opinion of the highest quality with a perfect finish, which is extremely important in the case of timber window joinery, especially when it requires maintaining the character of the historic building. Interestingly, as part of the same investment, aluminum joinery was also used, which is typically associated with modern projects. Aluminum doors and windows fit well into the aesthetics of the building and allowed it to be adapted to the modern standards of residential and service buildings. It is worth mentioning that the reconstruction of buildings is a demanding project and is carried out according to legally defined rules, therefore the entire course of the investment was carried out in close cooperation with the conservator of monuments and on the basis of available archival materials and opencast research. Working on the project was very demanding, but it paid off - the final result brought us a lot of satisfaction! Congratulations to Lokum Developer and all contractors on their success! The idea of the project was to restore, on the basis of available archival materials and open-cast research, the historical character of the building and restore its former splendor in a refreshed form. Reconstruction of buildings requires the application of certain rules, therefore the entire investment implementation process was carried out in close cooperation with the conservator of monuments, and the solutions used in the project had to take into account its specific specificity. The investment uses stylized wooden DAKO windows with muntins, in light gray color - perfectly matching the historic character of the building and emphasizing the uniqueness of the architecture. To adapt the facility to the modern standards of residential and commercial buildings, aluminum fittings were also used: aluminum doors and windows, and fire protection systems.
